The German Federal Association for Child Day Care is committed to the realisation of children's rights to education, upbringing and care in child day care, always with the best interests of the child in mind.

The work is based on the eighth German Social Code (SGB VIII) and the principle of equal status of child day care and child day care centres. The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is also an important point of reference.

The Federal Association contributes to the recognition of child day care as an educational and upbringing programme that complements the family and thus positively supports the living conditions of children and their families.
